At a glance
Plain English
This Privacy Policy explains what data Guidyy Inc. ("Guidyy", "we", "us") collects when you use our website, browser extension, and dashboard (together, the "Service"), and the choices you have.
Data we collect
We collect four buckets of data, and only what each bucket actually needs:
- Account & authentication data. Your email address and name from your identity provider (e.g., Google or email-link sign-in via Clerk). When you sign in to the browser extension, we store a session token on your device so captures can be linked to your account.
- Recording & activity data. While a recording you start is active, the extension captures the actions you perform on the page — clicks, the text you type into fields, and page navigation — and turns them into the steps of your guide.
- Website content. The screenshots, click positions, and DOM recordings (an interactive replay) of the pages you choose to record, plus the titles and descriptions generated from them. This content may contain personal information visible on the page at the time you record it (see Auto-redaction).
- Operational data. Logs, error traces, and product analytics (page views, feature usage). We use these to keep the service running and decide what to build next — never to profile you for advertising.
The extension only records when you explicitly start a recording, and it stops the moment you finish — it never captures pages in the background. We don't collect special categories of data (race, health, biometrics), and we ask you not to capture them with the extension.
Browser extension
Plain English
The extension requests only the permissions it needs for that single purpose:
- Access to the page you record. To screenshot the tab and read the elements you interact with, the extension needs access to the site you're recording. It can technically run on any site because you can record any site — but it only reads or captures content during an active recording you started.
- Local storage.Your sign-in token, the in-progress recording, and your preferences (recording mode, redaction toggle) are stored on your device using the browser's extension storage.
- Navigation & tabs. To capture navigation steps and keep a recording going across page loads and tab switches.
Completed recordings are uploaded to Guidyy over an encrypted connection. The extension does not load or run code from outside the published package, and it does not track your browsing history.
How we use it
Plain English
- Render your guides and share them with the people you choose.
- Generate AI titles and step descriptions from your captured steps.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Email you transactional messages (sign-in, billing, security).
- Improve the product with aggregated, de-identified usage trends.
We do not train foundation models on your private content, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
Auto-redaction of personal info
Plain English
Auto-redaction is a safety net, not a replacement for good judgment. If you spot something that should be redacted, you can blur it manually or delete the step entirely. Public guides should never include credentials, tokens, or customer data.
Storage, retention, and location
Data is stored on US-based infrastructure with our cloud providers. Backups run daily and are kept for 30 days. When you delete a guide, we remove it from the database immediately and purge backups on the next rotation. When you close your account, we delete your content within 30 days unless we are required to keep specific records (e.g., billing) by law.
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and friends)
Plain English
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can do most of this yourself from the dashboard; for anything else, reach out and we'll help.
Children
Guidyy is not designed for or directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll email account holders and post a notice in the product at least 14 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page is always the source of truth.
Contact
Privacy questions, data requests, or anything else: amit63390@gmail.com. For EU/UK matters, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — though we'd love a chance to fix things first.
